While emphasizing the need for cooperation and support from all stakeholders, for the exercise to achieve the desired result, Adewumi said this was important as the FRSC should not be left alone in the crusade of ensuring safety of lives and property on the road.
Also speaking at the occasion, the unit head of operations of the Ondo town unit command of the FRSC, Mrs. Mary Oladele, described human error and negligence as the major cause of increase in the rate of road crashes according to a research carried out by the organisation.
She explained that the trend could be addressed through attitudinal change which could be demonstrated by motorists through obedience of traffic rules and regulations.
While reiterating the determination of officials of the FRSC in Ondo town Unit Command towards the safety of the people, she advised them to shun acts such as overloading, night travels, driving of rickety vehicles, over speeding, consumption of alcohol or any other intoxicants as well as the use of expired tyres which could put their lives at risk while driving on the road.
In a remark at the occasion, the Zonal Chairman of the Ekimogun branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Mr. Ojo Akinmade, commended the officials of the FRSC for several safety measures and enlightenment campaigns put in place in the area which he said has reduced road crashes to minimum level.
