People of Okunmo community of Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State have appealed to the State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN to intervene in the crisis that is engulfing the community so that it will not escalate to unimaginable disaster.
This appeal was contained in the Save our Soul letter sent to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN of which a copy was made available to The Hope.
The letter signed by Elder Funmilayo Orunto on behalf of the ancient community said many people in the community have fled their homes for fear of being killed by the heartless youth who he said were sponsored by some people to cause havoc in the town as a result of leadership tussle.
The letter said some youth hired to cause crisis in the community had opened two barracks in the community where they use as operational base and had been chasing away so many people out of the community.
“It is time to inform you of the happening in Igodan-Lisa/Okunmo Community since September 13, 2017.
Many have fled for their dear lives since youths were employed to humiliate, ridicule, attack and attempt to murder some people in the community.
They also marked some people for complete death. So for them not to become a sacrificial lamb, they flee for their lives
The letter appealed to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN to take the matter as urgency because they said they don’t want innocent blood of people to be shed in the community any more stressing that the youth had taken law into their hands.
“We don’t want fire for fire and blood for blood. Now that they have taken law into their hands by taking over properties, crops and land that do not belong to them”
