Group organises Ondo 2018 Marathon

Ondo State is set to witness a turn-around in its sporting sector as a group, Cyclox Technology Limited (CTL) is organizing an International Championship tournament tagged “Ondo Marathon 2018” for under-20 youths.

The group, in collaboration with the state government will kick-start the championship event with logo launching for the Marathon between December 28-29, 2017.

Spokesman of the group, Mr Ayodeji Adelekun while addressing the management of Owena Press Limited, Publisher of The Hope tittles during a courtesy visit to the organization noted that the group intends to promote sporting events and encourage the teeming youths to be actively involved in sports.

“There are lots of youths that do not have one or two things to do; but some of them are talented with sport abilities, we want to bring out that abilities from them.

” The sport we are embarking on is athletics which is marathon, the simplest measurable sport in the world.

” We are looking for an icon like Seun Ogunkoya who was in attendance at the event to come out and build the image of this state and train the under 20 youths and bring the best out of them before we proceed to the marathon launching ,” he said.

The group, led by its chairman Col F. S Saka appealed to individuals and private organizations to contribute in one way or the other to the success of the marathon which will take off from Idanre hill to Akure city stadium.

The group also used the medium to appeal to parents to release their wards for the championship event, saying sports also increases the ability of children to think .

Responding on behalf of the organization, the Editor (Weekend), Mr Akin Adubuola assured of the readiness of the organization to collaborate with the group for the success of the event, saying the newspaper is purposely to serve.

According to him, the State is full of talented youths but weren’t discovered and groomed, hence the need to ensure the success of the marathon programme.

The Editor, who stressed the need to pursue posterity before prosperity, to build talents and name, urged the organiser of the event to add extra effort.

First and the current editions of the newspapers’ copies were presented to the group.
