Christians have been charged to make serving God and men their priority by making themselves clean in the service they are called to, as well as live a life of purity as commanded by God.
The retired Bishop of Igbomina Anglican Diocese, Rt. Reverend James Akinola gave the charge while delivering his sermon at the ordination service of Deacons at St David’s Cathedral, Ijomu, Akure during the week.
He declared that God is watching everybody irrespective of their status as he charged those ordained to always condemn evil by saying the truth.
He said Christians are the instruments God is going to use for the transformation of all those whose ways of life are at variance with God’s purpose.
Rt Reverend Akinola told the congregation that Jesus commanded christians to preach the gospel, and to heal the sick, saying that the disciples were not called for tithe, but to go out and cast out demons from those that are oppressed by demons
He submitted that they are divine agents for divine solutions, admonishing the ordained deacons to make themselves clean in the service they are called to render stressing that if they refuse, God will hold them responsible.
The Bishop of Akure Anglican Diocese, Rt Revd .Simon Oluwole Borokini listed the functions of deacons to include genuine service in the church and working with its members in caring for the poor, the needy,the sick and all those who are in trouble.
Those ordained are Rev Omotoso Okititan Abiodun, Kajero Olaitan Olusegun, Olajuyigbe Ebenezere Oluwasesan,Ogunwolee Christopher Bamidele ,Ogunleye Jacob Kehinde, Abe Samson Oluwaseyi, Adewale Sunday Olumide, Okelola Christopher, among others.
