Ondo State Government has assured the people of the state that the Alade Idanre Chocolate Factory would commence full operation before the end of the year.

This is just as it has assured that in the next one year, the state would witness explosive revenue generation through Agriculture and agri- business.

Commissioner for Agriculture, Otunba Adegboyega Adefarati disclosed this in a chat with The Hope in his office at the Ministry’s complex at Alagbaka in Akure, the state capital, where he assured the people that the present administration is intensifying efforts to boost the state’s economy through Agriculture.

He therefore urged the people particularly the unemployed youths to key into Agriculture, saying the era of depending solely on oil has gone and the country is diversifying her economy with Agriculture.

Adefarati said the state government is interested in mechanised farming and hence, is willing to partner with cooperative societies to get tractors towards making farming easier and enticing to young entrepreneur farmers.

“I was at the chocolate factory on Monday (last week) and the contractor assured us that when next we come, we will see a chocolate bar as the test production would have started. Before the end of the year, the factory would be in full operation.

‘This ministry will become a viable one with the help of the workers and professionals here. Before I assumed office, things had been relegated but now life is back to the ministry. In the next one year, the ministry would generate good revenue for the government and provide for all, that is, food for the state and food for all the people.

‘Government is looking into getting tractors for cooperative societies which are willing to  hire tractors and will pay back while government stands as guarantor. I charge the youths to key into agriculture as it is the in- thing in the country now. We have moved to the era of mechanised farming’, he concluded.
