The authorities of the Federal University of Technology, Akure Staff Secondary School (FUTASEC) have reiterated the commitment of the school to sustain its culture of academic excellence for which it has attained global recognition.
The Principal of FUTASEC, Sir Anthony Ikuyinminu made the assertion at the weekend in his welcome address at the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the school and fund raising of N55 million for the execution of developmental projects held at the 2,500 capacity auditorium of FUTA.
Ikuyinminu averred that the focus of FUTASEC is to provide students a solid foundation comprising of sound knowledge and life skills.
While noting that the school has achieved great successes in the last 25 years which it is now celebrating, he stressed that the giant strides recorded by FUTASEC have been made possible by its partnership with distinguished parents and the international world.
Ikuyinminu also added that the school parades a team of highly qualified and passionate teachers who drive its programmes and make success possible.
He however solicited the support of all stakeholders including parents and FUTASEC Old Students Association in meeting the needs of the school.
He enumerated the facilities needed by the school to include Laboratories expansion and equipment, a 56-seater coaster bus, hostel facilities, library development and a standard multipurpose hall.
Ikuyinminu appreciated the Vice-Chancellor of FUTA, Prof Joseph Fuwape for the university’s unflinching support for FUTASEC.
In his keynote address at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of FUTA, Prof Joseph Fuwape noted that FUTASEC in its 25 years of existence has carved a niche for itself and is currently competing favourably with its peers globally.
Fuwape who was represented at the event by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), FUTA, Prof Olatunde Arayela averred that the school has grown in leaps and bounds overcoming its challenges and forging ahead in all ramifications.
He commended the management and staff of FUTASEC for their hardwork and commitment to academic excellence stressing that they have been consistently dedicated to quality service delivery.
Fuwape assured that FUTA will always support the school to move to greater heights and achieve higher accomplishments.
While stressing that FUTASEC was established to be a trail blazer in academic excellence, Fuwape urged the management and staff of the school to keep the flag flying.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of FUTA Staff Secondary School (FUTASEC) Management Board, Prof Adewale Fagbenro saluted the courage and resilience of FUTASEC teachers in moulding the lives and careers of the students.
At the event, Awards of Excellence were conferred on FUTASEC students who obtained five Distinctions and above in both the 2016 and 2017 Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE).
Long Service Awards were also conferred on staff of the school who have served the school for 20 years and above while FUTASEC’s 25th Anniversary Magazine was presented to the public.
