In order to alleviate the high level of unemployment among the youths , the Senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial District, Senator Tayo Alasoadura has organised a certified Intensive practical training for hundreds of  Graduates and Non Graduates in his Constituency.

The training and empowerment programme which was purposely designed to fundamentally transform the lives of some of the youths was flagged off at his constituency office located at Arakale road in Akure, the state capital.

The Senator said we can no longer afford to continue to ignore the crying need for self-reliance and sustainability.

” It was this realization and, of course, the need to fulfil my electioneering promise to impact positively on the lives of our youths that prompted me to sponsor this training and empowerment programme.

“Hundreds of graduates and non-graduates are expected to benefit from the programme.

“The programme is in conjunction with the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Innovation Research and Support Services of Federal University, Oye Ekiti, some training programmes have been designed for our youths. Skills to be trained to include CCTV, GPS tracking, PBX (Intercom), OBD (automobile scanning), IP/CLOUD (remote viewing) and Contract Proposal Writing.

“When I was soliciting for votes of the people of the Central Senatorial District of Ondo state to represent them in the National Assembly, I promised to provide purposeful and productive representation.

“To God be the glory, I have been making efforts to keep faith with our people. I have attracted some life-changing projects to the senatorial district and used my personal money to execute some other projects.

“I have raised motions and sponsored bills that are of great importance to the country and of course, our senatorial district. I have, on several occasions, organized empowerment programmes for our people.

“But youth unemployment has been an issue that always troubles my mind, and I have come to realize that there is a need for new thinking and orientation to defeat the monster. Given the reality of things in our country today, the greatest empowerment one can get is practical training and skills acquisition that are relevant to the needs of our people.

“The World is changing and we must change with it so that we are not left behind. This training is coming at a time when we are intensifying efforts to diversify the country’s economy and ICT has a critical role to play.

” I embarked on the programme as a demonstration of my strong belief in using ICT as a major driver of development. ICT is strategic to all sectors of the economy in terms of productivity and efficiency.

“There is no sector that has not leveraged on ICT to increase efficiency and performance. This is what explains my desire to bankroll this training programme with the prime purpose of lifting our youths out of unemployment and poverty”, he said.

Alasoadura said the training is free of charge and participants who excel will get automatic employment.

“It will however cost me close to Eight million naira in all. It is, therefore, my hope that those who are lucky to participate in this training programme will take full advantage of it and make something meaningful out of it for personal and societal development”, he added.
