Ondo State Government has said that there is hope in the country following the various initiatives by different groups to boost her economy through agriculture and other business ideas.
The State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, expressed the hope yesterday while playing host to the members of Peace Aid Project (PAP) who made a presentation on Youth and Women Empowerment In Aquaculture Livestock Farming initiative in his office.
He also commissioned the regional office of Victory Crystal Investment Limited subsidiary of victory group in Akure.
The Governor, who spoke through his Deputy, Hon. Agboola Ajayi at the separate events assured investors of adequate security of their lives and property.
He assured of the readiness of his government to support investors by creating enabling environment for business ideas to transform the economy of the state.
Akeredolu said the government was striving hard to turn the state around from a civil service driven economy to investor driven.
Akeredolu noted that the more the number of investors in the state, the more the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) would increase.
He said part of government’s intervention was wooing Air Peace to facilitate movement of investors to and from the state from Lagos and Abuja.
“Part of our government’s plan is to make the state the hub of investors. We are ready to support and finance investments that will benefit our people.
“We have many Ondo State Indigenes who are ready to come back home and invest in the state.
“We will create enabling environment for investors, we are trying in the area of security too,maximum security of lives and property are guaranteed,” he said.
Earlier, The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Victory Crystal Investment Company, Mr Sola Olatunji, said his company would establish a medical laboratory company worth about N500b in the state.
Olatunji said the achievement of the state government so far has impressed within the short time in office.
“Mission is to join force with government to transform the economy of the state by providing technical assistance to the state government,” he said.
Olatunji urged the state government to curb the menace of kidnapping,robbery and other social vices that always repel investors in states.
On his part, the Founder and CEO of PAP, Mr. Benson Emakpor , said the project focused on government policy to create a “Nigeria beyond Oil ” through agriculture.
Emakpor explained that PAP initiative aims to use novel ideas to encourage youths and women to go intio modern mechanised farming as well creating wealth for people and generating IGR for the state.
He added that the projects aimed to establish mechanised livestock farms in rural area to empower women and youths as well as the communities where the farms are located.
