Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has urged members of the Natural Herbal Mixture Practitioners of Nigeria (NHMPN), Ondo State branch to obtain government approval for products of the association to enable it have public acceptance.
Akeredolu said this while playing host to the members of the association in his office, Akure.
Represented by his Deputy, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, the Governor emphasised the need for government’s approval saying it will enhance the quality of herbal products in the state.
According to him, herbal mixture is part of Nigeria and African’s way of treating or finding solution to various ailments affecting people which deserves government attention.
Akeredolu explained that government approval will prevent product of the association from counterfeit herbs by unregistered individual.
He described the specialization of members of the association as an inherited gift for the benefit of mankind.
The Governor further assured the readiness of his government’s support for the association to reduce capital fight in term of imported drugs.
Earlier, State Chairman of NHMPN, Mr. Yusuf Alimi, called for the support of the state government towards the production and expansion of herbal product by the association.
He said herbal mixture is made of roots and leaves which is more effective than orthodox medicine.
Speaking with journalists, the Public Relation Officer, of the association, Mr. Adejorin Adesuyi, said herbal mixture of various types are produced by members of the association to heal various health challenges facing people.
He said herbal mixture should have government recognition than the orthodox one for it to add value to Nigeria’s economy and well for the health benefit of the people.
