Man, 32, remanded over alleged armed robbery

A magistrate court sitting in Akure has remanded a 32-year- old Asogbon Oluwaseun in Olokuta prison over an alleged  armed robbery and receiving  stolen property.

According to the charge sheet, the accused and others at large were alleged to have between July 11th and August 26th,2017 at Ode -Aye in Ondo state magisterial district armed with a barrel gun did conspire  to commit felony to with armed robbery and receiving stolen property and thereby committed an offence.

The accused  was also alleged to have on same  date,  time  and in the aforementioned magisterial district, while armed with a  barrel gun did rob one Akinnuoye Funmilayo of the following items, one  Toyota RAV4 car  marked Lagos  JJJ 187 AW valued N2,000,000 (two million naira), Jewelries valued N850,000,00(Eight and fifty  thousand naira) and thereby committed an offence.

The accused and others at  large were alleged  to have  on the same date and time in the aforementioned magisterial district, while armed with a  long barrel gun did rob one Olusola Akindehinmi of  certain items including one techno handset valued N7000 (seven thousand), one Nokia 210 handset valued N7500(seven thousand five hundred naira),jewelries valued N250,000:00(Two hundred and fifty thousand naira) and thereby committed an offence.

The accused was also alleged to have on  the same month, time at Ode- Irele in Ondo state magisterial district, did unlawfully receive one Toyota Rav4 car with Reg, No (Lagos) JJJ 187 AW valued N2,000,000 (Two million naira) which he knew was robbed at gun point property of Akinnuoye Funmilayo and thereby committed an offence.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge..

The prosecuting , corporal Jiboye Babatunde said the court has no jurisdiction on the  case of Robbery and firearms urging the court to transfer the  case  to DPP for advice  .

He therefore applied for the remand of the accused in the prison custody pending the outcome of DPP advice.

In her ruling,chief magistrate (Mrs) Aladeniyi Olajumoke  ordered the remand of the accused in Olokuta prison.

The case was adjourned till November 6, 2017 .
