For better Nigeria: Muslims tasked on justice, truth

For Nigeria to be a better nation which her citizenry can be proud of, Muslim leaders at various positions have been urged to ensure that justice and truth always prevail in the discharge of their legal duties.

Alhaji Yusuf Adelowo, Missioner of Nasrul-Lahi-L- Fatih Society( NASFAT),Owo Branch gave the advice in his lecture delivered at the occasion of Hijrah 1439 Celebration and Special Prayer for the Ondo State Government and Muslim appointees in the State.

The lecture with the theme”The Expected Responsibilities of Muslim Leaders in the Social Economic Development” was delivered at Akure Central Mosque.

According to him, “leaders must possess truth as quality and be trustworthy as well as not to commit themselves with what they cannot fulfil”

Adelowo, who explained that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is an exemplary leader with good quality of leadership from whom everyone that desires to become leader should take cue from noted that knowledge and wisdom which every leader must possess for good leadership to be achieved.

He equally said that a responsible Muslim leader either in politics or religion should let trust and justice be their watch words at all time.

While noting that injustice, excess ambition, greed, envy and anger are enemies of peace in the society, Adelowo said if these are not checkmated, society will continue to experience disorderliness

He described all these factors as the enemies of peace and said whoever has that character cannot be regarded as Muslims.

He, however, charged Muslims to always be good ambassador of Islam and be upright and sincere in their responsibilities.

Addressing the gathering, the State Chairman of League of Imams and Alfas, Alhaji Ahmad Aladesawe, thanked the State Government for appointing the dedicated Muslims as commissioners and Senior Advisers in his administration.

While expressing hope with the set of commissioners in the present administration of the state, he charged all the Muslim appointees on the need to serve people in the state with all sincerity.

On his part, the Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Yayi-Akorede appreciated members of NACOMYO in the state for their meaningful contributions to the propagation of Islam in the state.

Delivering his welcome address, the State Coordinator of NACOMYO, Alhaji Abdulyekini Alli, thanked the state government for the appointments of some muslims into the political offices and enjoined the government to look into the implementation of various advice given by the organisation for the betterment of the state.

He, equally charged Muslims to be more dedicated to physical , economical, political and spiritual development than before so as to survive the current challenges facing the country.

Alli urged muslims to remain law-abiding and continue to cooperate with the government to achieve its aims and objectives.

Highlights of the event include, special prayer for the state government and muslims appointees, and introduction of 1439AH Hijrah calendar.

The occasion had in attendance the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Rt. Hon. Taofiq Abdulsalam and his counterparts from Ministries of Health and Natural Resources, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro and Mr. Rasheed Badmus respectively

Others are, Senior Adviser to Governor on Lands, Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Raheem Aminu and Chief Imam of Ondo City, Alhaji Bashir Alimi among others.
