Okeigbo APC honours appointees, receives decampees

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC,) in Okeigbo town of  Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, have organised an elaborate reception to honour indigenes of the council area who were recently appointed by the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), to various political offices in the state.

Those honoured during the ceremony were, the Ondo State Commissioner for Finance, Mr Wale Akinterinwa  Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo State on Investment and Development, Mr. Boye Oyewumi, the Caretaker Chairman of the Local Government, Mr. Dayo Akinsuroju, as well as other three Special Advisers,  Mr. Festus Adefiranye,  Wumi Ojewale and Babatunde Fabiyi.

Speaking at the event which was attended by members of the APC within and outside the council area, the Chairman of the Planning Committee and chieftain of the APC in the area, Mr. Bisi Fasogbon, said the ceremony was organised to honour and felicitate with the members of the party who were recently appointed into various political offices by the  Governor.

While congratulating the new appointees on  their appointment, Fasogbon urged them to take the unity and cooperation of the party as one of their priority,  as he reiterated the readiness of members of the party in the area by continuing to identify and support them in their new assignment.

During the ceremony, no fewer than five hundred members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area   defected from  their former party and pitched  their tent with the APC.

The new members who were led by a prominent politician in the area  and former Special Adviser to the immediate past  Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, Mr. Ademola Adeboye, thronged the venue of the celebration in a branded face cap and broom to show their support to the APC.

Speaking on behalf of the  decampees, Adeboye said their decision to move to the APC was aimed towards contributing their quotas to the changes and development currently embarked upon by the  Akeredolu-led administration in the state.

He explained further that his group who were numbered about five hundred were   passionate about changing Ondo State for good as encapsulated as one of the cardinal programmes of the present administration in Ondo State.

Adeboye,  former  chairman, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo local government, submitted that the decision of large numbers of his group to dump the PDP has brought an end to the PDP in the local government.

He pledged the readiness of his group to always abide with the rules and regulations of the  APC and as well ensure its success

Receiving the new members, the Ondo State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa, congratulated them  over their decision to be part of the history of transforming Ondo State for good.

The Commissioner while assuring the new members of equal treatment, urged them to unite with the leaders of the party in the area and ensure that peace, progress and stability continue to take its full stand in the party.

He stressed the need for the new members to note that they have come in to  party that has the interest of its members at heart.

On the reception organised in his honour and others, Akinterinwa thanked the organisers and promised that  will not disappoint them by being  a good ambassador of the council area.

The Commissioner also warned members of the APC in the area against what he called formation of splinter groups within the party, the development which he said may not be  good for the interest of the party in the area at this present time.

Akinterinwa used the occasion to enumerate several developmental projects embarked upon by the Akeredolu-led administration in the state, which he mentioned to include, construction of roads across the state, prompt payment of workers salary and arrears among others.

The event held amidst funfare at the Okeigbo town hall, located at Oke-Ologudu in the ancient community, featured cultural dance, musical interlude, delivery of goodwill messages by several leaders of the party in the area among others.
