All roads led to the palace of Jegun Jimoko11 of Ileoluji kingdom, his Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Julius Oluwole Olufaderin Adetimehin when visitors trooped into the palace to mark their presence in honour of the State Commissioner for Finance, Mr.Wale Akinterinwa who was hosted by the Jegun recently.
The sons and daughters of Ileoluji kingdom both from far and near sang praises to God and appreciated the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, for his magnanimity to count the kingdom worthy among other local government areas on the appointment of one of its sons, Wale Akinterinwa as the State Commissioner for Finance and for the success of the occasion.
The hall was filled to the brim with personalities of high integrity and repute including the state governor, who was at the occasion represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Ifedayo Abegunde in company of the Chief of Staff Chief to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale.
Commissioners in the likes of Information and Orientation, Mr. Yemi Olowolabi, Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Femi Agagu, Works and Infrastructure, Taofik Abdulsalam, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Prince Solagbade Amodeni and Lands and Housing, Donald Ojogo as well as the Special Advisers to the Governor on Health, Jibayo Adeyeye, Infrastructure, Engr. Raimi Aminu and transport Mr Tobi Ogunleye also attended.
Skye bank Manager Mr. Mayor Adeyemo and Registrar of Ileoluji Polytechnic, Mr. Feyi Adetula were all present at the occasion among several others.
The Febisola cultural troupe of Ile-Oluji added glamour to the occasion as they displayed the cultural heritage of the kingdom before the wife of Jegun, Olori, Dr. Adetokunbo Adebunmi who presented a gift to the commissioner.
Addressing the gathering , Oba Adetimehin said the purpose of the occasion was to celebrate Akinterinwa for exhibiting such virtues that qualify him to hold such a dignifying position in the State Executive.
He also advised him to bear in mind the relevance of the platform that earned him the appointment so that he would make it a duty to always remember to be there for the people.
The Jegun assured him of his endless effort in praying for him and the unalloyed support of Ile-Oluji citizens to be successful in his new appointment.
While calling on the citizenry of the kingdom to show understanding in relating with him and his office, he opined that his outstanding performance should be the major concern of the entire people of Ile-Oluji as a stakeholder noting that they should give their maximum cooperation for him to excel.
He also called on his peers and associates in the executive council and other compatriots to continue to show love and affection among themselves.
The Jegun declared that Governor Akeredolu brought in professionalism, transparency and accountability to governance rather than politics noting that those in partnership with the government were tested people and are doing very well in their private businesses and organisations
He urged the people of Ondo state to continue to pray for the Akeredolu’s administration and be patient for it to deliver the dividends of democracy to them which he said had been stipulated in the blue print.
He appreciated all the Chiefs and everybody including those in diaspora for contributing to make the programme a success.
The Olori, Dr. Adetokunbo Adebunmi who presenting a gift to Akinterinwa appreciated him for making himself present at the occasion.
She showed happiness that an illustrious son of Ile-Oluji is appointed as commissioner and to man the Ministry of Finance.
Adebunmi who sang a special song of appreciation to thank the governor said the occasion was organised to show their unalloyed support and happiness for the choice of Akinterinwa.
She appreciated him and wished him the best and a good tenure ahead.
Earlier in his opening remarks, a citizen referred to as the lord mayor of the kingdom, Engr. Samuel Adegboyega described the occasion as first of its kind to Akinterinwa, who is not the first to be appointed, but because of his uniqueness having been watched for a period of time and considering the roles he has played in the kingdom, which qualified him for the honour.
He advised him to always know and remember the watch word that he is there for the Ile-Oluji people.
Responing, Akinterinwa described the honour done him as an uncommon one praying that God Almighty will continually honour the king of his kingdom.
He assured the king and the people that he would not let them down praying that with the assistance of the Governor and the Executive Council, their expectations shall be fulfilled.
He appreciated God and expressed delight to become a commissioner fo the second time in the history of the state.
Akinterinwa, who could not hide his excitment, took time to appreciate everybody present at the occasion saying it was a very surprising occasion.
He extended his appreciation to the members of the State Executive Council who were at the occasion in his honour.
The ceremony which began with an opening prayer said by the Chief Imam of Ile-Oluji Central Mosque, Alhaji Salam Omiata closed with a vote of thanks from Chief Henry Akinsuroju while Ven. Amos Adewakun rounded off with a closing prayer.
