The Annual Yam Festival in Ijare in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State will come up on August 14, 2017.
The Hope gathered that everybody in the ancient town is preparing towards the day.
In an interview with The Hope, Asamo of Ijare land, Chief (Mrs) Egbinuade Adesida said everybody in the land including the Kabiyesi, High Chiefs Chiefs, Sons and daughters are looking forward to what she called the D day
She described yam festival as memorable in the ancient town of Ijare because she said it is an avenue for all Ijare sons and daughters at home and in the Diaspora to meet and celebrate together.
The Chief who noted the yam festival celebration in Ijare is as old as the town itself said the celebration is a symbol of unity in the town as everybody is involved
“This yam festival is as old as the town itself and it always comes up a month after Olofin festival.
This festival brings the sons and daughters of the town together, whereby they unite, dine and wine together. On this day, the chiefs put on no other garment than white to indicate the importance of the festival.
