A 31-year-old man, Akinmoyero Felric, has been dragged before an Akure, Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly assaulting one Ola Oladimeji.
The accused person who is facing a one count charge pleaded not guilty. He was said to have committed the offence on January 21, 2016 at No. 15, Hospital Road, Akure, in the Akure Magisterial District.
According to the prosecution, the accused person was alleged to have assaulted one Ola Oladimeji by manhandling him and gripped the collar of his shirt.
The offence committed is contrary to and punishable under section 351 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State, 200.
The prosecution, Mr Abiodun Adebiyi, urged the court to adjourn the case and remand the accused person till the next adjournment date.
The counsel to the accused person, Barr. Anthony Akpofiwei pleaded that the court should release the accused person on bail, since the offence is a bailable offence.
He promised that the accused person will provide a very reasonable surety and will not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate O.A. Omole (Mrs) granted the plea of the counsel to the accused person by granting him bail in the sum of N50,000 and one surety in like sum.
She also ordered that the surety must submit his/or valid current tax clearance two passport phonographs and furnish the court with the details of his or her address.
She thereafter adjourned the case till February 8, 2016.
