Ondo State Government has assured residents in the state of sustainable access to stable water supply in a very short time, just as it partners with Agence Francaise de Development, a France based public development finance institution for the reformation of the state’s water sector.

Adelola said when completed, the project will improve water supply capacity from Owena Multipurpose Treatment Plant to Akure and Ondo Storage Reservoirs and boost water distribution to people in Akure, Ondo and other parts of the state.
He promised that the people will have access to stable water in their houses and at their doorsteps.
He said it will also develop organisational and institutional capacity, improve operational efficiency; metering system, leakage detection and rehabilitation of customer connections.
Adelola however emphasised the state’s readiness to support the project to ensure potable water service delivery to the people, stressing that the state already have a dam and a treatment plant and therefore needs external support to facilitate water delivery to the people in their homes.
He therefore called on the firm to speedily deliver the project.

The Board Chairman, Ondo State Water Corporation, Engr. Steve Giwa, said one of the needs of residents in the state is potable water supply, stressing the need to use the assistance of the agency to assist the state in generating potable water.
He said several consultations and examinations have been made on the project, adding that the firm will support the state government’s efforts to reform the water sector and achieve sustainable water service delivery.
Reacting,Team Leader, Agence Francaise de Development, Martin Lemenager, said the agency had supported several water projects across the country and is extending such gesture to other states.
He said as a partner with the federal government, it will enhance the state government’s efforts at expanding access to water supply among the people.
He assured that work will begin on the project immediately and is expected to be completed within six months. He urged the state to pay its counterpart funding to facilitate the project.
Lemenager also called for an enabling environment such as water law, governance tools and institutional reform to facilitate its operations.
Also commenting, the Chairman, Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Public Utility and Transport, Hon. Bamidele Oleyeloogun, promised provision of necessary support to enhance the success of the project, noting that the House of Assembly will provide enabling laws and assistance, as the provision of potable water supply will prevent diseases that affect human lives.
Corroborating his view, the General Manager, Ondo State Water Corporation, Mr. Jimmy Akinrinmade, said the state was shortlisted as one of the three states to benefit from the proposed French Development Agency facility, to support the implementation of the National Urban Water Supply project.
